The Amsterdam-based creative quit his job to commit to his photography dreams.
He said, “Working in IT was never my dream job. Photography has always been a big passion of mine, a creative outlet so to speak.”
One day, he decided to play around with Instagram. When he saw how gorgeous his photos turned out, he was hooked on the app ever since.
According to Business Insider: “He wanted to show others how great it was that you could take beautiful smartphone photos with just some basic photography skills.”
Roos started posting photos from where he was based, and they stood out from the sea of New York and San Francisco pictures during the early days of Instagram.
When his following grew to 100,000, big brands and companies—including Samsung, Ducati and Johnnie Walker—got in touch with him for collaborations.
Roos then decided to leave his job at IBM to become a full-time photographer as his popularity rose.
He said, “I haven’t regretted the decision yet.”
