Planning to pay a visit to San Francisco’s Design District? Within its borders and in the nearest surrounding there are located many décor and furniture sores of all kinds, which sell to the public. Don’t want do miss anything? Here is the list of my personal favorites. Take a look!
Coup d’Etat
Coup d’Etat located at 111 Rhode Island St is an original showroom with collection mixed among vintage regency style pieces. We can see there a big variety of accessories and furniture from Chippendale mirrors to chaise lounges paired among swanky chrome Pan Am chairs and Federal armchairs.
Design Within Reach
Housed in a converted warehouse, DWR is filled with modern classics from the likes of Eero Saarinen and Isamu Noguchi, as well as more contemporary pieces by Tom Dixon and San Francisco-based Yves Béhar. The company operates similarly to a traditional showroom in that all purchases require placing an order, with varying lead times, rather than buying anything right off the sales floor. Location: 2299 Alameda St.

Restoration Hardware
The 9,500-square-foot gallery and flagship store features vintage and reproduction furnishings, accessories, hardware and a resort-style courtyard. Location: 188 Henry Adams St.
Roche Bobois
European furniture purveyor Roche Bobois is right on the border of the district at 701 Eighth St. Bright and colorful sofas by Hans Hopfer coexist alongside sleek and sophisticated designs by Cedric Ragot. These are definitely investment pieces, as reflected in the price tag and craftsmanship.
Room & Board
A soothing synthesis of classic contemporary furnishings by an assembly of renowned designers from Lotta Jansdotter to Loll Designs, Pendleton Woolen Mills, Herman Miller and Charles and Ray Eames. The furniture and accessories are spread across three floors, covering 40,000 square feet. Its proximity to the Design District has proved beneficial, as the store can tap into members of the trade and retail consumers alike. Like many retailers, most furniture at Room & Board must be ordered and then delivered or picked up; small goods such as throw pillows and bedding can be purchased and taken home on the spot. Location: 685 Seventh St.
